The project was aimed at preparing imprisoned women from Rusca penitentiary for a better social reintegration on their release through strengthening their relationships with their children.

 

Objectives

 

  • providing free legal counseling services for imprisoned women from Rusca penitentiary and their children through setting up a legal bureau at Rusca
  • improving relationships between women prisoners at Rusca penitentiary and their children through visits, letters and photographs
  • raising awareness of women prisoners, their children, prison staff from Rusca, the Department of Penitentiary Institutions, administrations of children’s homes and boarding schools about the rights of women prisoners and their children

 

Beneficiaries of the project: 300 condemned women from Rusca penitentiary and their children

 

Within the frames of the project, ISHR-MS organized visits of children with their condemned mothers, provided free legal counseling, encouraged mothers and their children to write letters and exchange photographs, edited and distributed a brochure about the rights of women prisoners and their children. ISHR-MS has become a connecting link between imprisoned women and their families.
