“Increasing confidence in civil society organizations of Moldova, including Transnistria and Gagauzia”

The project “Increasing confidence in Moldova’s civil society organizations” was implemented ISHR-MS in partnership with Pro NGO! (Koeln, Germany) and Moldovan NGO “Dniester Community Justice Centre” (Tighina), “Resonance” (Tighina), “Stels-Tera” (Tiraspol), “Contact “(Chisinau, Comrat, Balti) from July to December 2010.

 

Through our project we informed the CSOs from Moldova, including Transnistria and Gagauzia, of advantages of being transparent, share best practices of national and European nongovernmental organizations.

 

The project objectives were:

 

  1. To raise awareness of society and the authorities about the activities, successes and experiences of civil society organizations;
  2. To encourage and support civil society organizations to present their achievements;
  3. To raise awareness of the civil society organizations about the necessity and advantages of being transparent;
  4. To foster cooperation between Moldovan CSOs, including Transnistrian and Gagauz organizations.

 

As a result of the project, the CSOs had the opportunity to inform society and the authorities about their activities, to learn about the achievements of other organizations, to strengthen their capacities of being transparent, to get potential sponsors, partners and volunteers involved.

 

Developed activities and results:

 

There were organized and carried out 6 round tables for 91 representatives of CSOs and mass-media in Cosnita (30.07.2010), Ungheni (08.09.2010), Comrat (10.09.2010), Chisinau (30.09.2010), Hincesti (01.10.2010) and Cahul (25.10.2010).

 

Was organized and carried out the First Photo Contest for CSOs “Inspiration through action”. Especially for the contest, was created a bookmark on the site www.ishr.md, where the photos were posted, and an e-mail [email protected], on which interested CSOs could sent the photos.

There were 5 nominations at photo contest :

 

  1. We help people
  2. We develop local community
  3. We work together
  4. We preserve national treasures and ecology
  5. We take care of children

 

There was a public announcement of the start of the contest on the networks for CSOs, such as www.ong.md, www.civic.md, www.contact.md. Also , we sent twice the letter-invitations and information letters to CSO.

 More than 300 CSOs received the information about the contest on their e-mails.

The information was placed on the project webpage www.ishr.md. There were radio shows on Radio “Antena C” about the contest and about it’s conditions.

There were selected 3 jury members from Pro NGO! (Köln, Germany): Hans Born, president; Stephan Meseke, vice-president; Diana Belsner, project manager.

During all the period of contest, we received 452 photos from 109 CSOs from Moldova, including Transnistria and Gagauzia. All the photos were resized and placed on www.ishr.md.

 

Was organized and carried out of the photo exhibition “Civil society organizations: inspiration through action”. For the exhibition were prepared stands. There were selected 100 best photos from 59 CSOs to be exposed, and were made the exhibits. Because of the bad quality of photos sent at the contest, we had to ask the participant to send the photos again in their original size. During the period of selection and preparation of exhibits, we worked closely with participants and discussed about their activities, about the photos that were chose.

 

The exhibition started at December 6, 2010 and worked till December 20, 2010, in the premises of at the National Assistance and Information Centre for NGOs in Moldova “CONTACT”

 Everyone had the possibility to visit the exhibition, because of the free entrance. The visitors left their views through the exhibition: “… it is a great possibility for the CSOs to show their capacity to change the situation in our country…”, “it is important to show this exhibition in other places”, “…it’s a pleasure for us to see our photos in an exhibition, thank you for this opportunity…”

 

Were invited mass-media representatives, local authorities, CSOs, representatives from Embassies.

During the period the exhibition was opened, it was visited by more than 1000 persons, including the participants, business representatives, donors and citizens.

 

The award ceremony of the winners of the First Photo Contest was held at December 9, 2010.

 

 The jury selected 5 winners, one in each nomination:

 

Asociatia MOTIVATIE din Moldova (from Vadul lui Voda)-nomination 1.

Progress ( from Grigoriopol, Transnistria)- nomination 2

AIESEC Balti ( from Balti)- nomination 3

Miras-Moldova ( from Comrat, Gagauzia)- nomination 4

Alter Ego ( from Causeni)- nomination 5

 

Pro NGO!e.V. made a donation for the prizes for winners: 5 digital photo cameras.

 

There were organized and carried out 2 press-conferences. The first one was held after the official opening of the photo exhibition, on December 6, 2010. The project partners told about the project activities and results achieved so far. The journalists showed great interest in the project activities.

 

 The second press-conference was held after the awarding of the winners, on December 9, 2010.

 

The informations and reportages about The First Photo Contest for CSOs “Inspiration through action  and the photo exhibition “Civil society organizations: inspiration through action” were  broadcasted by radio stations Radio Moldova 1, “Vocea Basarabiei”, Antena C, Sanatatea, Free Europe, and National Radio Station of Moldova  and TV Moldova 1.

 

Different sources of media published articles about the project. Altogether there were 2 press-releases issued.

There were some articles in the press and internet: newspapers  “Unghiul”, “Vocea Baltului”,  News agencies “INFOTAG” (www.infotag.md), INFO-PRIM (www.info-prim.md), Deca-press (www.deca.md), Media portals www.stireazilei.md, www.moldova.org, www.ong.md, www.nm.md/daily/news, www.flux.md, www.newsmoldova.ru.

 

 Information about the ongoing project activities was published on the website www.ishr.md to ensure access of all interested parties
